Have you heard of buoyancy? It’s literally what floats your boat… and your balloon, and Dr. Lloyd’s saccharometer (check out our post to learn about how Rachel Lloyd used this to measure the sugar concentrations of beets!). Humans have always experienced buoyancy, but the Ancient Greek mathematician Archimedes (287-212 BCE) discovered how to measure it precisely.
