Eunice Foote - What is the Greenhouse Effect?

What is the greenhouse effect? It's the thing that keeps our planet warm enough to live on, and the reason the Earth is heating up and the climate is changing. And it was discovered nearly 200 years ago by a woman named Eunice Foote.

You can mimic Eunice's experiment by using a simulation of sunlight and the Earth’s atmosphere like this one. Play around with the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere and watch how the temperature on Earth changes.
